When someone has a passion, a drive to succeed in something, they will take no mercy in getting there. People often do something as a form of distraction to get through these tough times. A lot of people turn to dance. Many start from the streets, but turn out to be the most out standing dancers in this world…”

DAVID'S VOICE:
"Don't swear at me."

STEVE'S VOICE:
"FUCK OFF YOU PRICK."

David lashes out and punches Steve in the face. They start a violent fight when Vikkie runs over and attempts to pull them apart but gets hit in the process by David.

STEVE'S VOICE:
"You twat. You just smacked a girl."

DAVID'S VOICE:
"She aint much of a girl! You're more feminine than her!"

Steve and David both go into confrontation mode and start square up to each other.

VIKKIE'S VOICE:
"OII! (pushes them apart) You're both idiots, just shut up! Sort yourself out and get back over there, we've got a show to do! We've come so far if you don't want this then fuck off, you ain't ruining my dream."

Character descriptions for screenplay(W.I.P.) -10/12/10

For our screenplay i am going to write about characters. Firstly we are going to have 5 main characters each very different from each other, however they will all be similar as they will have a dark, background full of hard tribilations of being a teenager such as gang violence , drugs , crime etc.

However to contrast this the Primary main character who is also the "leader" of the group is a alot more positive , caring and hardworking than the other characters but to keep with breaking the conventions that this film plans too, she will have a horrible , dark past that has shaped her into the person/character that she is at the start of the film. She will also be extremely good at dancing as she helps the other 4 characters to become structured and to help theyre dances flow with eachother. Shes also an extrmely passionate dancer as it was the only thing that kept her going through the bad times , therefore she wants to make sure that the group gain her passion and it helps them just as it helped her once. However similar to the other characters shes also using them in a way as she wants to be able to win the competition and become famous meaning that she has a dual/hidden agenda that makes her just as bad as the other 4 characters.

The other 4 characters consist of 2 guys and 2 girls, This will mean that we will try and have gender represented equally in the film therefore meaning that we wont have to worry about the audience feeling like they're not having sex(male/female) being represented in the film fairly.

The 4 other characters (to keep with breaking the typical conventions of the musical dance genre) are also going to be characters that have dark, deceptive mannerisms and general flaws, this is to hopefully make the audience feel like that maybe if they've been through some hard times that maybe have influenced the way they act in present day this could then maybe have the audience feel like they could relate to the characters which could provoke an emotional response which could keep the audience engaged in our film.

Treatment rewrite - 7th December 2010

Live 2 Dance
An original screenplay by Vikkie, David, Andrew and Yasemin.
7th December 2010

V-DAY Productions proudly presents a musical drama/dance film about a young lady who has a passion about going far in dance, so tries to create the ultimate dance group. She teams up with other passionate dancers in order to achieve her ambition and compete in the biggest dance competition possible in the UK; 'Live 2 Dance'.

As the story unfolds, there is various conflicts as all of the characters dance and fight for themselves, not for the future of the group. The main character gets injured during rehearsals and the group all turn wanting to ditch their main dancer. But through the hard times, they pull together and dance as one unit.

Through drugs, fights and gang-warfare they all pull together to dance as one solid unit, even though their relationships and the groups future does not matter to them, only their own personal goals and achievements.

For the idea of our film, think 'Step Up' meets 'Dirty Dancing'. The idea where feuding families and characters fight through it, pull together and dance together.

V-DAY Productions plans to set 'Live 2 Dance' in various locations like parks and clubs in Dagenham and London, and use the different characters - our lead teen female, the fighting teen males, and the drug addicts, in order to create the desired effect of competition and dispute, but also the feeling of co-operation when they put their differences aside to succeed in life. Live 2 Dance is targeted towards a demographic composed primarily of young females in their teens, but will also appeal to males who enjoy dance.

With the approval of the Executive Producer:
Miss O'dell

1.what conclusions can you make about your findings? What do they tell you?

From our survey we can make many conclusions about the findings. Firstly the main audience of dance films/we should target in our product should be the demographic of young female teenagers. Our research supports this as 60 percent of the people who answered our questionaire were 16 and under and female. Secondly dance films are watched sometimes by people, mostly in a relationship, this can tell us that couples are more likely to go see the dance films meaning we shouldnt focus it totally on female 16 - 24 year olds. We also learned that most people enjoy a mixture of street/different dance styles and prefer a sort of competition between the characters therefore we should try and incorpriate this into our opening scene. Also most people (50%) are interested in a little bit of romance in dance films this therefore means that we should try and incorpriate some sort of romance between atleast 1 of the characters.

2. who is your target audience?
16- 24 year old females this is because our research suggests that this audience is the most likely to go see our films plus with 70% of the people weve questioned regulary going to the cinema to see the films once a month means that it is likely that the 16-24 year old female demographic is most likely to watch the film/opening.

3. How are you going to make your opening sequence appeal to your audience?
To make our opening sequence appeal to the audience were going to keep to many of the conventions of the musical dance genre that the audience enjoys in musical dance films, i.e costume , as were going to have a lot more "urban" clothes being worn by the characters such as tracksuits, trainers, and hoodies etc, we however have to include characters that are of a difference ethnicity/ethical background, and lastly have a bit of competition between each of the characters , this is because this is what our research has told us our audience likes in a musical dance film.
4. Is there anything else you need to know about your target audience?
it is unlikely that we will need anything else, however if we do then we could send an open questionaire to the audience to find out what types of characters and setting/story that they like to see in a musical dance film, we could also see how/where/what styles they would want to see the dancers use, therefore this would tell us what to include in our film.
